Benchmark on typical views

Typical views per upload is the median of a channel's newest 30 settled uploads, counted separately for long-form and Shorts. It moves with what the audience wants this quarter, where subscriber counts mostly record the past. Divided by subscribers it becomes reach, the share of the audience that still shows up, and a channel holding 50% is compounding while one at 2% is living on its back catalog.

Uploads per week sits next to both because pace explains a lot of gaps. A competitor with a lower typical number who posts three times as often can still own more of the niche's attention.

Turn their breakouts into your next videos

The breakout list is the useful half. Each entry is a topic, title or format that a competitor's own audience pushed well past that channel's norm, which makes it a tested idea for anyone serving the same viewers. Look for repeats first. Two competitors breaking out on the same subject is a demand signal, and one breaking out on a format you never post is a test worth running.

Videos under a week old are scored too, so a fresh upload already at 3x is still climbing and is the earliest signal on the page.

Questions

What does the analysis measure?

For each channel, subscribers, typical views per upload for long-form and Shorts, uploads per week over the last 90 days, and typical views as a share of subscribers. Then it pools every competitor upload that reached at least 2x its own channel's typical views and ranks them by that multiple.

Why rank competitor videos by multiple instead of views?

Raw views always favour the biggest channel. The multiple measures each video against its own channel's median, so a 40K-subscriber rival's 9x hit outranks a giant's ordinary upload. That is the list of ideas each audience rewarded beyond the norm.

How much of my API quota does it use?

About 5 units per channel, so 25 for you plus four competitors, out of the free 10,000 every Google account's Data API key carries daily. Calls go from your browser to Google directly.

Why four competitors?

Four keeps one run readable and well inside a day's quota. The Bangermap app tracks a competitive set of any size and re-scans it each time you open it, and the MCP server and n8n node run the same analysis across whole lists.

How is this different from the two-channel comparison?

The comparison reads two channels side by side. This tool benchmarks your channel against a set and adds the pooled list of their breakouts, which is the part you turn into video ideas.
